2021 – Sir Michael Morpugo performing The Mozart Question in Chichester

With public performances unable to go ahead CMHMD commemorated the 27th of January in other ways.

The plans for Holocaust Memorial Day 27th January 2021, Sir Michael Morpugo performing The Mozart Question at Chichester Festival Theatre and screenings of his film Waiting For Anya at New Park Cinema, were thrown into disarray by the pandemic.

With public performances unable to go ahead CMHMD commemorated the 27th January in other ways.

We hosted an online service that can be viewed below. The online service was attended by local people, politicians, faith leaders and pupils from local schools who screened the service live into their classrooms as well as being watched by many more pupils subsequently.

In addition, buildings in Chichester were lit in purple, the colour theme of Holocaust Memorial Day. The Cross, The Assembly Rooms and Chichester Festival Theatre were all lit in this way.

These virtual and outdoor visual events ensured that even during the pandemic we were able to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day 2021.
